Time for a Pintervention?

I have a confession to make: I'm addicted to Pinterest. But really, is it much of a confession at all? It seems that everyone and their mother is picking up this newest, hottest social media. And how could anyone resist?

I started as a way to tame my excessive bookmarks, just for me. Somewhere along the line, I started picking up followers. So now I'm wondering if I should turn my aim from inward (keeping the bookmarks in order) to outward (developing an author brand?). Agent Rachelle Gardner had two recent posts on using Pinterest as a writer. But then again, I still want my boards just for me. It's a tricky one.

Some might think that Pinterest might lead to virtual hoading. But if they saw the bookmarks I had on my computer BEFORE Pinterest, they'd probably agree that the visual method works better for me. Even if I do have 60 pinboards.

One other interesting article contrasts the US users versus the UK users. The US users are more likely to be women, and into the cozy sorts of boards (i.e. crafts, fashion, decor, etc). Where as the UK users are more likely to be men, of the SEO power user/social media guru variety. Very pinteresting? (Sorry, I couldn't resist). I'd hazard a guess to say Canadians like me would be more along the US lines. At least I am.

So. . . what's the bottom line? I guess just that I may have a Pinterest addiction. But I'm cool with it. Check me out here.

Do you have a Pinterest? What do you use it for?
